Branson School Online is home to the most talented and dedicated teaching staff in Colorado!

Each month we introduce you to one of our incredible Branson School Online teachers.

Our Feature Teacher for the month of January is: Patti Osborne!

Mrs. Osborne is a special education teacher for Branson School Online. Read on to learn more about this talented BSO teacher!

Name: Patti Osborne

Years Teaching: about 16

Years with BSO: just starting with BSO!

Favorite food: I have a terrible love of all things carb-o-licious. But if I were to say what healthy food do I like, perhaps, I'd go with Steak, Sweet Potatoes, Asparagus, and something sweet for dessert. On the other hand, if you are making dinner for me, well then, THAT is my favorite food!!

Favorite color: I like all things purple-ish. Like fushia, pink, purple. It's a power color for me. I feel good when I wear deep jewel tones.

Pets: My son's dog lives with me. He's a mix of Australian Cattle Dog and Black Lab. I also have about 25 goldfish in my outdoor pond. I would like to have another cat, but we have none right now.Crafts!!! I love Calligraphy, Painting, Photography, Sewing, most anything crafty I will try, and I love gathering new ideas off of Pinterest.

Hobbies: hmmm....Wandering through Pinterest-land? Taking road trips. Going on Adventures.

What do you love about teaching? I love working with students when that light bulb goes off. That's a great celebration. Our world really values education. I didn't learn this until I graduated from college with my first degree when I was 43 years old. Suddenly, I was validated by so many people. I want my students to get the same warm fuzzies from learning and the validation of others.

What do you love about teaching with Branson? I'm looking forward to the new way. I'm glad that so many teachers, staff, and students have done this already. I have much to learn from you.

Favorite season? Why? I really like Fall. Always have. I like the changing colors and the temperature changing and the fruits and berries.

Favorite place you have traveled to? I went to Alaska. My late husband (do you know what a late husband is?) and I were planning to go to the Caribbean as missionaries. We never made it, but I still wanted to travel. It took me a while because it is kinda scary to leave everything you know and go to a foreign place. I went to Alaska and lived there for a year and taught school in Wasilla.

# 1 item on your bucket list: I would like to go on a Mediterranean cruise with 8 ports of call. I don't have any details. Just the dream of going. Going after my trip to Israel, which is also as of right now, unplanned.

Favorite book/author: I don't really have a favorite. So, the last book is usually my favorite. The last book I read was "Oracle" by Johnathan Kahn. It presents so many dates that correspond to each other about the history of Israel. It's very interesting. I'm not really interested in novels.

Favorite sport: Scenic Drives. Is that a sport? Probably walking. I use the AtlasQuest website and go to various places, as like a treasure hunt. Takes me places I would not normally go myself.

Anything else you’d like to share: I am a widow (do you know what a widow is?) I usually poke fun at my husband. Sometimes we deal with grief through humor. I live with my adult son. We are both Navy veterans. He was on a nuclear aircraft carrier and went around the world two times. I was stationed in San Diego. It's a beautiful place to be located. I also know how to sail sailboats.
